Job Description: Laboratory Technician (Biotechnology)

SALARY RANGE: RM2,000-RM3,000

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for providing laboratory support for teaching and research activities in the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Science laboratories, in the field of biological sciences, including microbiology, biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioprocess technology and chemistry.

Qualifications and Criteria:

1. Diploma in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology or related biological or applied science disciplines from a recognized institution.
2. Good interpersonal skills. Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
3. Good time management skills. Able to schedule and priorities work and to honor deadlines.
4. Good organization and housekeeping skills.
5. Working knowledge on setting up of laboratory equipment / apparatus / software for teaching sessions and research; or able set up from experiment descriptions / lab manuals.
6. Hands-on operation and basic troubleshooting and maintenance, including calibration; of common laboratory equipment as well as its supporting utilities / facilities systems.
7. High level of safety awareness and knowledge, primarily on biosafety, chemical and gas safety.
8. Working knowledge in basic Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
9. Knowledge on OSH requirements, 1st Aid and emergency response.
10. At least three (3) years of relevant work experience, preferably in laboratory setting or similar.
